The Scholar Gamers Scholarship is one of the most unique financial aid opportunities in existence. Rather than rewarding the jocks and jerks of the modern work, this scholarship honors nerds that love to play video games. If you have ever thought that it would be nice to get paid for your gaming skills, this could be a great opportunity for you. This may not be a good scholarship for everyone, but it could be the perfect award for your lifestyle. Let’s do a little investigating to find out how you can apply for this scholarship.
The Scholar Gamers Scholarship at a Glance
- Award Amount: Up to $10,000
- Number of Awards: 108
- Minimum GPA: None
- Minimum Test Scores: None
- Eligible Applicants: Video game players over the age of 13
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, you must be at least 13 years of age. You must be enrolled in a middle school, high school, trade school, college, or university, and you must live in the United States or Puerto Rico. Here’s a direct quote from the scholarship website: “Who can win a Scholarship? Practically anybody!” As long as you have gaming skills and are willing to put them to the test, you could qualify for this financial aid program.
Application Details
If you want to apply, you will need to sign up for an account on the website. Then you will need to play five games that are preselected by the website owners. Complete all five games within the predetermined time limits, and submit your scores to be reviewed. If you are one of the highest scoring contestants, you could win money to use in college.
You can replay the games as many times as you want to, as long as you complete all five of them within the time limit. If there happens to be a tie, the winner will be the first person to reach the high score. Practice your hand-eye coordination a little bit, and you should be able to “score” some cash to pay for your education.
