Having a talent for many things can be incredibly awarding. That does not necessarily mean that having a talent for one specific thing will not bring rewards, but in fact it might reward one person with even more. Most of the popular singers cannot play any instruments, but were able to show their talent only through their voice when singing. This time students with talent in music get a chance to show their writing talent for their chance at a $1,000 scholarship. School Band & Orchestra (SBO) Magazine is introducing its annual SBO Essay Scholarship Contest to music students that write an essay on a topic given. The student with the best essay gets a chance at the scholarship towards their education. SupportMusic.com is sponsoring the contest and is making it available to students in grades 4 to 12. Ten awards total will be given in two different grade groups: five for grades 4 through 8 and five for grades 9 through 12. Their school will receive musical products that match the award amount. Applicant only need to fill out an application that includes an essay of 250 words maximum by the annual deadline of December 31st. Pretty easy for a music competition without much work put into it. It does not require standing in front of an audience or putting too much effort to win. Although this competition is not a live music competition, students get to express their passion for music through writing and on top of that, get awarded for it.
