Gates Millennium Scholarship Program for Minority Students

Table of Contents

The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program is designed to assist minority students who are planning to enroll in college during the coming years. They are valid through graduation, and they can be used in any two- or four-year university of an applicant’s choice. If you would like to be a part of the GMSP, you will need to be nominated by an educator or counselor at your school. As long as you show academic and leadership abilities, you should be able to qualify for this award. Here is some general information to help you understand more about the Gates Millennium Scholars Program.

The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program at a Glance

Eligibility Requirements
To apply, you need to be a prospective college student of minority descent. Eligible ethnicities include: African American, Hispanic, American Indian, and Asian. If you have a 3.3 GPA or higher and fit into one of those minorities, you should be eligible for nomination. You just have to find an educator or someone else that you know to recommend you for the program.

Application Details
If you want to apply, you will need to fill out an application form describing your achievements and plans as a student. Then your nominator will need to fill out a separate form to turn in with yours. Your nominator can send both of those forms into the address on the GMSP website, and then you can wait for a response from the review board. Hopefully everything works out so you can get some money to support your education.
