When to Start Looking for College Scholarships

Preparing for  college education is a monumental task for most. Keeping up your grades, engaging in extra-curricular activities, searching for the right universities, trying to come to grips with what it is you want to learn and most importantly, paying for it all. All of these can add a tremendous weight to a high school student. My first and most crucial tip is, its never to early to start looking for scholarship. Most high school students begin the process of looking for scholarships toward the end of their junior year in high school, when college prep begins to take center stage. Competition is fierce for scholarships and aid for students, and if not prepared the pressure can be overwhelming.

What a lot of people don’t pay attention to is the number of scholarships made available to future college hopeful from as early as freshman year in high school. Thats right! IF you are in your first or second year of high school and are committed to pursuing  your college education after high school, you can begin to apply for scholarships.

You can apply to scholarships specifically geared toward students your age or even apply to general age group scholarships and show true initiative by telling the scholarship providers that even at your age you are committed to being a college student.

Scholarships for high school freshman and sophomores range from $500 to as much as $20,000 per year. Awards offer pre-college preparation as well as guaranteed financial help for your first enrolled semester.
